Belts should be replaced at least every two to three years.

When should I replace my air compressor belt?

Glazed, brittle or cracking belts must be replaced. Unlike cars, most compressors will not make an audible squealing noise when belts are slipping. Slipping belts may cause nuisance circuit breaker tripping, excessive vibration and may rip motor mounts apart from sudden snatching of belts in spinning pulley. Loose belts may cause overheating and a possible belt fire. Over- tightening belts may result in bearing or shaft failure.
