Coalescing Filters remove harmful oil aerosols using coalescing action. In this process, small aerosol particles come in contact with the filter media's fibers to merge and become a droplet, which then drains away due to its weight and the gravitational force acting upon it. Coalescing Filters are typically installed downstream of the particulate filters for effective removal of oil aerosol, and to ensure long element life. Coalescing filters are installed after the air dryer as they coalesce oil best at the coldest spot.
